What is LUCS?

A Lower Uterine Segment Caesarean Section (LUCS) is the most common modern surgical method for delivering a baby. It involves a horizontal incision made in the lower part of the uterus. This specific technique is preferred because it results in less blood loss, a stronger uterine scar for future pregnancies, and a faster recovery compared to older methods.

At Revive Nursing Home, LUCS is performed both as a planned (elective) procedure and as an emergency intervention when a vaginal birth poses risks.

Safety First Environment

Our operation theaters are equipped with advanced monitoring systems, and every C-section is attended by a senior obstetrician, an anesthesiologist, and a pediatrician to ensure immediate care for the newborn.

Indications for C-Section

Fetal Positioning

When the baby is in a breech (feet first) or transverse position, making a vaginal delivery unsafe.

Maternal Health

Conditions such as placenta previa, high blood pressure (preeclampsia), or previous C-section history.

Emergency Factors

Cases of fetal distress or prolonged/stalled labor where immediate delivery is vital for the baby's safety.

LUCS FAQ

How long is the recovery period? โŒ„
Most mothers stay in the hospital for 3 to 4 days. While initial recovery takes about 2 weeks, full internal healing generally takes 6 to 8 weeks. Our nursing team provides extensive guidance on wound care and movement during your stay.
Can I breastfeed after a C-section? โŒ„
Absolutely. Our lactation consultants assist you in finding comfortable positions to breastfeed that avoid pressure on your incision, ensuring you and your baby can begin bonding immediately.
What type of anesthesia is used? โŒ„
Most LUCS procedures are performed under spinal or epidural anesthesia, which numbs the lower half of your body while allowing you to remain awake and alert to greet your baby the moment they are born.
